With our brand color setting, you can now easily customize the primary color used across family- and faculty-facing experiences—bringing your school’s spirit and identity into emails and portals that families use.
What the brand color affects
Once set, your chosen brand color will automatically appear in key places families and faculty interact with August, including:
The background color of email communications
The top navigation bar in the Family and Faculty Portal
This ensures a consistent look and feel across communications and portals without requiring any additional setup.
How to set your brand color
Navigate to Settings > Instance settings in August
Click into Brand settings
Choose your brand color using one of the following options:
Color picker: Select a color visually
Hex code entry: Toggle to enter a specific hex code, often provided by marketing or communications teams
Click Save
Once saved, your brand color will be applied automatically, no additional steps required.
Tips & best practices
Choose a slightly darker color: In some areas, white text is displayed on top of your brand color. Darker shades help ensure text remains readable and accessible for families.
Use official brand colors when possible: If your school or district has established branding guidelines, entering the exact hex code ensures consistency with your website and other materials.
Preview with families in mind: Consider how the color will look across emails and portals to make sure it feels welcoming and easy to read.
