August Schools Portal Overview for Faculty

This article will guide you through what Faculty members will see/have access to, within the August platform.

This Help Center article will show you how to:

  • Log onto the August Schools Portal for your school/district as a what we call as Faculty user

  • How to access the student information made available to Faculty users

Each school or district has its one unique URL for its instance of the August Schools platform (e.g., {school_name}.augustschools.com). Additionally, the instance will also have a portal, which can be accessed by adding "/portal" to the end of the URL (e.g., {school_name.augustschools.com/portal). Navigating to the specific link for the portal will bring you to a log-in page like below that will prompt you to enter either the email or phone number on file with your school/district's student information system.

Note: Please make sure that the email and/or phone number you wish to use is on file in the the student information system. The August Schools Portal pulls these credentials directly from the student information system and attaches it to your record in August Schools. Please work with your school/district's information technology (IT) personnel to keep this information up-to-date.

The log-in page will look very similar to the below screenshot:

When you enter your email or phone number, the page will refresh to ask for the verification code the August Portal has generated for you. The code will arrive in an email to the email address on file, if you entered your email. Likewise, the code will arrive in an SMS text message, if you entered your phone number.

Note: Both the email and the text message will also have a hyperlink. If you click this hyperlink in the message, it will take your to the August Schools Portal and log you in as well with no further action needed on your part.

Enter the temporary passcode on the page and select "Login" to be logged into the August Portal. When you do so, you will first be brought to a welcome page that looks like below.

Note: If the text on the welcome appears to be parent-oriented, you are in the right place: the has been primarily used by Parents, and we are in the process of updating the text.

Click on "Get started" to be brought to the portal homepage. On this page, you will see at a high level the type of information available to Faculty Portal users like yourself. The types of information are:

  • Roster: A list of all students to whose information you have access, as designated in your Student Information System.

    • Note: The student information to which you have access is designated by groups of students (which we call sections) to which you have access per the Student Information System.

  • Medications: Information on both the medications your school stores on campus as well as each administration of the medications that students in your school must be given.

    • Note: Not all Faculty Portal users will have access to this information.

  • Athletics: A list of all the athletic teams (which we call athletic sections) to which you have access.

    • Note: Not all Faculty Portal users will have access to this information.

Click the tile for the appropriate type of information you need to access it. Feel free to direct any additional questions on how to use the Portal to [email protected]. You will want to direct questions around Student Information System-designated access to your school's information technology (IT) personnel.
