Veracross sync: Writeback and photo sync

August Schools’ Veracross integration ensures that critical student health information is not only captured accurately in August, but also clearly surfaced in Veracross.

Updated yesterday

Write-Back to the Medical Alert Field

August can now write qualifying health conditions directly to the Medical Alert field in Veracross.

In Veracross, this field triggers the red heart icon next to a student’s name—making urgent health needs immediately visible to faculty and staff.

Conditions That Trigger Medical Alert Write-Back

  • Asthma

  • Diabetes

  • Seizure disorders

  • Life-threatening allergies

When enabled, August will automatically sync these qualifying conditions into the Veracross Medical Alert field.

⚠️ Important Note

Enabling this feature will overwrite any existing information currently stored in the Veracross Medical Alert field.

If your school manually maintains data in this field, be sure to review and align before turning on write-back.

Write-Back to the Allergies/Symptoms Field

August can now write allergy information—including severity—directly into the Allergies/Symptoms field in Veracross.

This allows teachers and faculty to:

  • View allergy information without leaving Veracross

  • Understand severity at a glance

  • Access more complete student health context

⚠️ Important Note

This feature will overwrite any information currently stored in the Veracross Allergies field.

We recommend reviewing how your school currently manages allergy data before enabling write-back.

Student Photo Sync (Veracross → August)

You can now sync student photos from Veracross into August Schools to ensure consistent student identification across platforms.

Setup Requirements

Your Veracross system administrator must enable the following API scope:

  • List: Person Photos

Once that scope is enabled, let us know and we'll turn on the photo sync!

How to Turn On Write-Back

  1. Confirm your school would like to enable allergy and/or medical condition write-back.

  2. Ensure required API scopes are enabled in Veracross.

  3. Email [email protected] to let us know you're ready to turn on the write-back.

  4. August will toggle the feature on in your instance.

⏱ Timeline

Write-back can typically be enabled same day once scopes are properly configured and confirmation is received.

Required API Scopes

To ensure write-back functions correctly, your Veracross instance must have the appropriate API permissions enabled.

If write-back does not appear to be working:

  • Confirm all required scopes are enabled

  • Allow for the next scheduled sync to run

  • Reach out to August Support if data does not populate after sync

Why This Matters

By pushing critical health information directly into Veracross:

  • Faculty see urgent conditions without logging into multiple systems

  • Red heart alerts increase safety visibility

  • Allergy severity is clearer and more accessible

  • Health teams reduce manual duplication and reconciliation

These updates were built directly from school feedback and are designed to make August and Veracross work together as seamlessly as possible.
