Bi-Directional Sync with Blackbaud

A guide with the FAQ and set up regarding our bi-directional sync with Blackbaud.

Updated over a week ago

Interested in student allergies and conditions syncing to Blackbaud from August? We offer a bi-directional sync with Blackbaud! This sync will allow teachers and other staff can see medical alerts in the SIS, rather than through the August Faculty Portal.

Who is eligible for this bi-directional sync?

Schools that meet the following requirements are eligible to enable the bi-directional sync!

  1. Blackbaud as the SIS

  2. Enabled Nurse's Office module in Blackbaud

Which health fields sync?

Currently, we can sync allergies and conditions for students.

Which allergies and conditions sync?

There are two options for which allergies and conditions sync over:

  1. Only the Allergies and Conditions that are created in your Blackbaud Nurse's Office setup

  2. All Allergies and Conditions from August (we can provide you the list!)

  3. Specific condition types (e.g., chronic, etc.)

What does the process look like to enable this?

Adding this bi-directional sync for your August Schools instance takes about 2 weeks. The steps are as follows:

  1. The first step is to reach out to us and we will get this added to your instance

  2. After the sync has been added, we will select one student as a test student to send data and have you verify in Blackbaud

  3. If that test is successful, we can sync all students

We currently use Blackbaud's Nurse's Office for our EHR, can we pull allergies and conditions into August?

Yes! We can pull allergies and conditions currently documented in Blackbaud. To do this, the SysAdmin who initiates the Blackbaud sync is required to have the Nurse role in Blackbaud. Once the additional role is added in Blackbaud, we will re-run the sync to pull over the allergies and conditions.
