Overview
If your school is moving from one Student Information System to another, August Schools needs a little information up front to make sure the switch goes smoothly. Specifically, we need to match each student's record in your old SIS to their record in your new SIS, so we can update the connection without creating duplicate profiles.
This article walks admins through what to prepare and what happens once your new SIS integration goes live.
Why this step matters
Prevents duplicate profiles: without an ID mapping, students could end up with two separate profiles instead of one continuous record
Keeps student history intact: existing forms, encounters, and records stay connected to the right student
Minimizes downtime: having the mapping ready before the switch keeps the transition quick
Steps
Download the ID mapping template: SIS ID Mapping Template.
Fill in each student's old SIS ID and their corresponding new SIS ID.
Send the completed file back to your August Schools contact.
August Schools will use the file to map the IDs on our end.
Once mapping is complete, we'll turn off your current SIS integration and switch you over to your new SIS.
š” Tip: Double-check that every active student is included in the mapping file. Any student left out won't be matched, which can lead to a duplicate profile being created once the new SIS connects.
What happens next
Once your mapping file is submitted, our team maps the IDs and turns off your current SIS integration. From there, your school will create the new SIS integration in August Schools. We'll confirm with you once the ID mapping is complete and let you know when you're ready to set up the new connection.
