Overview
August Schools can alert you when a student's medication inventory drops to a level you set. You choose the threshold for each medication individually, which means high-priority medications can warn you sooner than others. Setting these thresholds keeps your team ahead of refills and helps prevent gaps in a student's care.
This article walks nurses and health office staff through how to set the inventory value that is used to trigger medication alerts. This article does not cover how to build the alert.
Why set medication alert thresholds?
Get warned before you run out: an alert fires the moment inventory hits your chosen count

Setting a medication alert threshold
Go to Medications → Inventory.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page. For each student medication, you'll find an Alert below field.
Click into the medication you want to set an alert for.
Click into the Alert below field.
Enter the quantity you want to trigger the alert.
Save the quantity.
Once saved, an alert will be triggered whenever that medication's inventory count reaches the value you set.

Set a higher threshold for critical medications so you have extra lead time to reorder the ones that matter most.
Review your thresholds each term as student needs and dosing schedules change.
