How do I add/administer insulin on a sliding scale?
Updated over a year ago

When adding a medication administration to a student's card, you must indicate the quantity to administer; if you are adding insulin that is on a sliding scale, this article will cover our recommendation!

Documenting a Sliding Scale for Insulin

  1. Navigate to the necessary student card.

  2. Open the Medication tab within the student card.

  3. Click on the insulin medication to open existing medication on file and click the Edit button, or add a new medication.

  4. In the notes field, add the sliding scale provided by physician.

  5. Click Save to record the notes added to the medication.

Administering Medication

  1. When you are ready to administer the insulin, open your MAR.

  2. Review the notes left on the medication in the "Student Medication Note" column.

    1. Can't see the full note? Expand the medication note by clicking the note.

  3. Administer medication based on sliding scale recorded.

    1. We always recommend adding notes to your administration and recording the blood sugar reading and additional details necessary.
