How do I chart insulin administration via pump?
How do I chart insulin administration via pump?
Updated over a year ago

If you have students that have insulin pumps, this article walks through our recommendation on how this should be documented in August Schools.

  1. Search for the student with the search bar at the top of the page.

  2. Select your student and open the student card

  3. Click on the Medications tab.

  4. Click on the "Add student medication" button.

  5. Type in the medication you wish to add.

*Please note: when searching for the insulin the drug information will indicate if it is a cartridge or solution.

  6. Select your medication from the resulting list.

    1. Please ensure you verify strength and form for your selected medication.

  7. Two options:

    1. If the student comes in multiple times a day to be checked: use the Timed doses to add the medication to the MAR.

    2. Students who do not have regular checks: use the As Needed doses to add administration details. Note, if it is as needed it will not show on your daily MAR.

  8. In the Notes section of the medication, add in the details of the insulin dosage from the prescription from the doctor. This will be easily accessible on your MAR.

  9. When administering the medication:

    1. If the student does not need adjustments: Skip the medication administration and leave a comment why it was skipped.

    2. If the student does need their insulin adjusted: Use the notes from the medication and update the quantity administered. August will go to the hundredth decimal.
