How to Add Default Values to an Existing Encounter Template
Updated over a week ago

Encounters for common incidents of support that often have the same documented details (e.g., for recurring treatments) may benefit from the designation of default values on the encounter templates default note to lower the administrative burden of reselecting the same information multiple times. The following steps outline how to add default values to an existing encounter template for this reason:

Step One: Navigate to the Encounters > Templates page.

Step Two: Remain on the Encounters tab of the page.

Step Three: Select the row for the encounter template you wish to edit from the table.

You may also select the 'Filters' button narrow down the table by template or creator to find the template.

Once you click on the row in the table for the appropriate encounter template, the page will refresh onto an individual page for the encounter template.

We will be paying attention to the right side of the page, which displays the default note's fields.

Step Four: Select or enter the default values for each of the fields present on the default note.

Step Four A: For fields with pre-defined values, click onto the field and select which of the values should be populated by default. If the field allows for multiple options, then you will be able to select multiple options as defaults.

Step Four B: For fields that accept inputted text, Type in the defined value.

Repeat steps four A and B as needed depending on the default note's fields.

Step Five: Select the 'Save default values' button.

The platform will apply these default values to the default fields every time the encounter template is used to create a new encounter after you have set these default values. These values will not be applied retroactively to existing encounters that use this encounter template but were created before you set the default values.
