Encounters are how users document each incident of support in the August Schools platform. Encounters leverage encounter templates, which dictate the types of information are solicited and in what manner on the encounter. Encounter templates consist of notes, which allow the users to input the solicited information. Each note template consists of one or more default forms, which hold the fields that the user will actually input information into. This article outlines how users can designate default values on a note template.
Step One: Navigate to the Encounters > Templates page.
Step Two: Select the 'Notes' tab of the page.
Step Three: Select the row for the note template you wish to edit from the table.
You may also select the 'Filters' button narrow down the table by template or creator to find the template.
Once you click on the row in the table for the appropriate note template, the page will refresh onto an individual page for the note template. It will show the default form for the note template.
We will be paying attention to the right side of the page, which displays the default note's fields.
Step Four: Select or enter the default values for each of the fields present on the default note.
Step Four A: For fields with pre-defined values, click onto the field and select which of the values should be populated by default. If the field allows for multiple options, then you will be able to select multiple options as defaults.
Step Four B: For fields that accept inputted text, Type in the defined value.
Repeat steps four A and B as needed depending on the default note's fields.
Step Five: Select the 'Save default values' button.
The platform will apply these default values to the default fields every time the note template is used to create a new encounter after you have set these default values. These values will not be applied retroactively to existing notes that use this note template but were created before you set the default values.
