Building Supplemental Rules by Graduation Year

Looking to surface forms to only specific classes? Use this article to surface forms by the graduation year!

Updated this week

August Schools can now surface forms within packets by the student's graduation year. Use this article as a step-by-step guide to build your own rules!

Building Supplemental Rules by Graduation Year

  1. Within August Schools, click on the Forms page.

  2. Click on Packets.

  3. Click into the desired packet.

  4. Click on the "Supplemental Rules" tab.

  5. Expand an existing rule or add a new rule.

  6. Click "Add rule" at the top of the query builder.

  7. In the drop-down field, select "Subjects."

  8. In the next drop-down menu, select "Students."

  9. Next, search for "Graduation year."

  10. Set the graduation year(s) that should receive the form(s):

    1. If you have a range of consecutive (2026-2032) graduation years, use the "Between" variable and enter the lowest and highest graduation years.

    2. If you are sending to graduation years that are not consecutive (2028, 2030, and 2032), click "Add sub rule" on the "Students" line, add the next graduation year, and change the value from "And" to "Or."

    3. If you need to surface the forms based on a question in the packet and by graduation years, the rule will be slightly different. Keeping the Form requests/Submissions rule, you will specify the form instance (question in the packet) and the answer you are looking for. Then, you will follow the steps above to add a rule by the graduation year(s).

  11. Click "Save changes."
